In May, Edu Hub Lisbon participated in two TEDx events in Marvila that explored some of the most pressing questions shaping the future of learning, innovation and human development.
At TEDxMarvila, we invited attendees to answer a simple question:
What changed the way you think about learning?
The responses filled an entire wall. Some were only a few words long; others were more reflective. Viewed collectively, several themes emerged: curiosity, travel and cultural exchange, challenge and resilience, creativity, community, and the value of engaging with different perspectives.
What was particularly interesting was the breadth of responses. Alongside references to education and learning, many people reflected on experiences that had broadened their horizons: travel, meaningful conversations, challenges overcome, creative pursuits and exposure to different perspectives.
Together, they painted a picture of learning as something that continues throughout life and is enriched by the people, places and ideas we encounter along the way. These reflections mirror many of the conversations now taking place across schools, universities and innovation ecosystems around the world.
In a world shaped by rapid technological change, artificial intelligence, global mobility and increasingly complex challenges, learning is becoming less linear and more interconnected. Knowledge remains essential, but so too do adaptability, collaboration, creativity and the ability to engage with different perspectives.
The responses on our TEDx wall reinforced something reflected across the Edu Hub Lisbon ecosystem: some of the most meaningful learning emerges through interaction, dialogue and exposure to different perspectives.
This philosophy sits at the heart of Edu Hub Lisbon.
Through United Lisbon International School, Global Learning Hub, Marvila Studios and the wider community taking shape across the campus, our ambition is to create an environment where learning extends beyond traditional boundaries and where new ideas can emerge through collaboration and connection. Bringing together education, entrepreneurship, innovation, culture and community within a single ecosystem creates opportunities for learning that extend far beyond any one institution or discipline.
